SW20 MR2 power antenna to aftermarket stereo

I picked up a factory power antenna but now I want to get it to go up and down. The motor works as I have tested it with a battery.

The stereo only has a blue wire for switching an amp or power antenna. So that means the antenna will always go up with the stereo on CD, AUX or radio.

I have the wiring diagram and figured out that the pink wire is the switch but I can seem to get that to work. Even bypassing the body loom doesn't appear to work. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get it to work, if it's possible.
The factory stereo wiring has been bypassed so the amp end of the pink wire is the blue wire of the stereo.

It's been years since I did mine, but I have a feeling the factory amp had to run to make the antenna go

I reinstalled all the amps but it just blew the stereo fuse. The current setup splices the stereo speaker wires to the body loom speaker wires after the amps. Its all messed up. Must be a way to bypass all the factory switching and use the stereo switch. It's probably too complicated to be worth it. At least I don't have a big hole in the spoiler side pod now.

The antenna still works fine if not extended.
I never listen to radio stations so I pulled my antenna out the other day and plan to bog and glass over holes.

My radio doesn't work too well with the aerial down. But today I figured out how to get it to work. I jumped the pink and blue and green and black wires with the grey wire. Goes up with ACC and down when off. You need to power both the stereo and amp wires to get it to go. I think I will try to connect those wires to the amp switch on the stereo. That way I can control the aerial with the stereo. I only have an amp on switch so if the head unit is on the aerial goes up.

Can you put a switch in the power feed to the aerial? then you can control it bit more. There was discussion on MR2 forum about this.

Yes I could do that. Wouldn't be too hard. It would be nice to have a headunit with aerial and amp switch but it's not worth it. I'll see if I can hook up the headunit switch to the pink and blue wire and jump the factory amp wire at the aerial with the pink and blue wire.

EDIT: Hooked the headunit amp switch wire (blue) to the black and red + the pink and blue wires at the factory stereo plug. As I have removed my factory amp the pink and blue wire needed to be joined behind the passenger seat so I did that. All works now. Aerial goes up when head unit on and down when off. Might add a manual switch in as you mentioned. Just don't like having non factory switches in the cabin.
