Everything is personal opinion, but I'm not a fan of them if I had to drive one every day. In saying that, I drive a 20 year old automatic Hiace and I love it.

what series of engine is that one from? do they suffer from the same issues that the modern hilux diesels do?

They share the same 2.2 as the Corolla. Generally the D4D issues were with the Hilux and not many other models, save for a few issues with the AZ in the Caldinas. Most other stuff doesn't give trouble... generally speaking.

1992 auto 4.2td landcruiser 11l/100km general running, or 9.5l/100km trip
2013 suzuki swift 1.4 manual 5.5l/100km
2012 suzuki alto 1.0 manual 4.7l/100km
mid/late 90's suzuki cultus/baleno 1.5 auto 6.25l/100km

Manual rav's have 4.9 diff ratio in them, that combined with being a 'suv' type vehicle they get 'suv' type fuel economy. (guzzle guzzle guzzle)

Think the engine is the 2AD-FTV off the top of my head. As mentioned by Lloyd, its a 2.2.
