The boat will be of the 5-6m ~1500kg inshore type most likely.

Disco drivers doing 150kph on passing lanes then slowing to 50kph to get around corners without tipping over is in my top 10 gear grinders. Another downside as with all the Prado's in this price range is size, ideally want something I can lift kayaks on and off of.

could get into a D3 for 20k i reckon

keeping it on the road would bankrupt you though

edit - hmm, just had a look on TM and theres nothing you'd want to own for less than 30

If you're worried about cornering stability you aren't going to get anything that will tow a decent sized boat comfortably. May as well jump into a highlander/Tiguan/q5/harrier/other oversized car.

Also land rovers (modern ones) are some of the most stable big SUVs on the market.

I strongly dislike them but credit where it's due, they actually do their job well.

What do you want 4wd for. Actual off road? Or just pulling out of boat ramp?

Hmmm but you don't want height.
Get a ladder?
Prado or Safari I'd be looking at.

well optioned ones corner amazingly well, better than they have any right to IMO. they can be pushed much harder than your instincts tell you - its a bit unnerving.

they hammer brakes, tyres, and suspension doing it though.

Thought about a toyota granvia? They aren't badly priced and go like the clappers with the 1kz diesel.
