Any idea which turbo it was running?
Some Subaru turbos (made by IHI) are stupidly expensive. I had a VF38 on my KP60 and when I blew that, the only new one I could find in NZ was $2800...
IHI don't sell rebuild kits either.

Will be the primary turbo that's shot, should be able to get one from a wrecker for ~$300. Probably a day's work at home to swap?

Do you think a average person that knows alittle about cars could do the turbo swap or you really need to be a mechanic?

It's just a matter of undoing bolts, it's not rocket science ;) Also test drive it first just to make sure that is it's only issue - they're not the most reliable of motors when they aren't looked after

the going rate for a primary turbo weather it be a vf25, vf31 or vf33 is between 425+ gst through to $600+gst depending on which one it is.
