Maybe so but the LFA is probably there case in point with regards to road car.
For me they have been winning and have pushed as far as they can go in SP8 the best they have done is 15th overall which is no mean feat.
I just think its time they extended themselves against the best they have been developing and optimising this car for 5-6 years now I really think to take the next step is enter against the best in the field and unfortunately spluttering around in SP8 & SP9 just isn't it.
"Instead of making its engine smaller in response to the clarion call of efficiency, Lexus stuck with a 5.0-liter V8 for the RC F. Final figures aren’t in, but Lexus says it will produce more than 450 hp and more than 383 lb-ft of torque."
i dont think it would be considered a true successor unless the motor it comes with is of a I6 configuration and has a ton of potential...
I think one of the amazing parts of the supra is its engine which you can bolt on a new turbo and supporting mods and it will make 400kw+ without even touching the long block
looking at the speedo scares me, how is the average enthusiast going to modify their car when they are starting to put shit like that on cars? it does look cool though...
im still on the fence about it... ill be disappointed if they release it with another boxer engine!

The same could be said of the M3 and the GT-R too though.
