Broke it.
Driving along the freeway, hit a bump, sudden dive into next lane, massive shuddering, somehow missed all traffic and got it stopped on the shoulder. I assumed I'd bent an arm/strut but all wheels straight. Pop bonnet to check strut tops and found this......$&#$%.

No matter how strong an engine is supposed to be, it can be broken by the right amount of abuse, neglect and stupid people. Too much boost bro

Wasn't my engine. Was a shortblock I picked up yesterday. But yeah, although i'm actually thinking whoever built it went a little to tight on the ring gaps, because the tops of the pistons have no damage at all, and the bores (including the one piston that is still intact) have a strange wear/pitting pattern.

The pitting will be detonation marks

Yip. Oil filled mounts so quite nice under there at the moment  cracked cam cover and broke an aircon fitting and it's stuck in 6th too

Investigating all new aftermarket mounts now. I've had enough of them. Mazda stock mounts are way too weak for 400nm+. On the plus side we can squeeze a few more horses out of it once it's back.

I'm told the MPS shares the same mounts as the poverty spec Mazda 3 which explains this.

Purchased a "new" one :)

Raced the ITR, and discovered that the brake pads were made out of weetbix. Two applications, and they faded.

Finished each run with no brakes, and smoke pouring out the wheels

Grrrr damn you attachments not working ... oh well imagine photo of odometer showing 460,000km. That is the new car.

On Saturday - swapped front pads for more street friendly options - nice and easy to change over which is good. Gave the track wheels a clean as they were caked in brake dust. Made sure they clear the callipers too.... once the outer wheel weights are removed they will  . Threw in a new air filter and made sure oil/brake fluid etc was boxed up ready to throw in the boot with my tools.
Today washed it and also gave the windscreen and a good clean inside and out.

Hopefully all sorted for a trip to Taupo next weekend to play on track 1

Hit a bird at 180kph, poor bastard didn't stand a chance.

Also blew gasket between turbo and manifold. Brother was worse off so he used the trailer instead and I drove the 2hrs home sounding like a tractor.

Did more tuning today, and finally smoothed out the huge rich spot around 400rpm, and a massive miss/jerk around 6500rpm...now its running smooth as ever, so roll on the weekend :)
