Hi all

As part of my "re-do project soarer properly" drive, I am looking at the fuel injectors I have and if it is worth upgrading them.

Right now I have 550cc rx7 injectors that are plug and play for the 2jzge fuel rail. They are flow matched.

I have heard that these injectors have a very narrow spray pattern (because the Rx7 they came out of has a deflector plate/runs at high revs/old injector tech) and that this might not be good for idle and fuel economy.

Does anyone one know if this is true and if so, what would be an injector I could get that would be around the same size that would have a spray pattern more suited to a 2jzge engine. Since I am planning on making this car a daily driver for the foreseeable future, if new injectors will save money on fuel they are probably worth the investment.

You'll no doubt get a few people telling you to avoid the rx7 injectors but I had set in my 4agte and I never had any issues with them (idle/coldstart all fine) so it may just come down to how well its been tuned. However you could try evo 560cc injectors as they have a mist style spray pattern and would drop straight in.

Thank you for the advice, currently my car will idle at just richer than stociometric about 14:1, gets lumpy if I lean it out further.

I am guessing that means any injector for a 4g63t will fit. I will have a look into them.

Hi mate,

I run the "rx7 550cc" and they are perfectly fine. Mine were brand new, so Im not sure how much diffference that could make, but marginal I would expect, given yours are flow matched

My car, starts, idles, and drives 100% like stock, always feels completely smooth too, so I can assure you they will be fine for your project.

Of course, there is newer/better injector technology around nowadays, but I think that If the 550's are big enough for your HP goal, then I would not waste money on new ones.

Buy new 0-rings for them though :)

I had to get 12 rx7 injectors to get 6 that flowed the same, should have bought new ones. All new o rings though . My car idles and runs smooth as long as I keep it a bit rich. Might have a talk to my tuner and see what he thinks. Don't want to waste money if it isn't required.

Thats not uncommon for second hand injectors to be inconsistent.

My car idles around 14.5-15.0, some times a little leaner, but no issues here.
