AE86 Diff assembly questions

Hi guys

Trying to assemble the diff myself,

I am following the instruction

I don't get, why do you preload the pinion bearing without crush tube, and assemble the carriers, torque it up.Then remove the pinion bearing again and put crush tube in and bearing on again?

Why? and How do you remove the bearing without dissemble the carriers?

Any easier methods?

My suggestion would be to let a professional put it together for you. That is the easier / better method. It needs to be done just right or else you may damage the parts.

The first time the pinion is installed and the bearings pre-loaded, is to check
that you have the correct shim washer to give you a proper contact patch when
the crownwheel is installed into the carrier. The factory consider crush tubes
to be a one time use item, so if you had to change the shim, you would need
to use another new crush tube.

If you don't need to change the shim, then you don't need to take the pinion
out, just pull the front bearing, put the tube in and torque it up.

Thanks man, that helps heaps.
How do you pull the front bearing out without taking the pinion out?
