This ^

As much as I loved being there and seeing/hearing/smelling them in the flesh, nothing beats the comfort of your own couch, and understanding exactly whats going on, all race long.

Have fun over there, guys, and Im looking forward to hearing some first hand opinions on the new generations PU sound. 136db is still pretty damn loud, but it sure aint no 146, so it will be interesting to see what the publics reaction to it is, after the first race weekend.

Hopefully they will now be quiet enough that the cellfone earbuds under the earmuffs means i can hear the radio commentary, then at least i'll have some clue what is going on.. :D

Also heading over on friday. Hopefully the weather holds off until my flight leaves. GA tickets for me this year. Grandstand was awesome last year, seeing the start and first corner mistakes in the flesh. But want to see some high speed cornering this year.

Wasn't formula 1 fan, but this year might prove very exciting since turbos are back.

This is really fascinating:

Gotta say, after watching a bit of practice..................where is the noise? These are just so dull sounding, doesnt make the hairs stand up like the old V8/10/12's.

RIP real F1!

I can see them having a think tank in a few races time, and trying to come up with a specifically tuned tail pipe to get the best sound possible out of them.

In the flesh they will be alot louder than on tv, but you are right, the V12/V10 era was the golder era as far as the aural side of the sport goes.

Vijay Mallaya's comments on the pitwall were a direct message to the FIA, and Bernie would be so happy that was cuaght on live feed camera :)

We will eventually get used to the sound, but that doesnt mean we have to like it lol.

Im loving how squirmy the new gen cars are though, so much movement under power, so bring on the damp sessions over the weekend to see how the drivers deal with the torx

They really aren't very loud, I was sitting there today during FP2 with no earmuffs on at all and they were fine, the supertaxis were MUCH louder!

With my normal earbud headphones in I could head the commentary perfectly, there were a lot of people there today that were extremely pissed off about the lack of noise, I'm glad they were running the RB7 in the ultimate speed comparison so I could hear one of the old V8's in person!

Edit: This is by far the best Motorsport event I have ever been to, and we haven't even started the competitive part of the F1 yet!

The noise of Formula 1 is gone!!! And delivered it in an extremely direct way, straight into the FOM camera.

I guarantee they will lobby to make changes, as Bernie and the promoters have always been against the idea, due to the lack of sound dropping ticket sales, as the sound is a huge part of the attraction.

Time will tell...

P.S Nilpsi, the event is so $&#$% impressive isnt it? Always something to watch, always track action, and lots of shit flying around to keep you entertained in the downtime...

Heres to another two SVG victories hehe.
