Car haulage - who to use? Chch to WGTN

Postby XSVWGN » Fri Apr 04, 2014 12:45 pm

Hey guys,

I have found another tt132 corona in CHCH that I'm after and it will be a rolling body. Who should I use that won't cost me a fortune? I had a quote of $730 incl gst as it's not driveable.

Any ideas are welcomed.

It's been a few years but I used to use John Silcock. Moves agricultural machinery around the country. Based out of Nelson I think. Last cost for a rolling car was around $400. Sadly I can't find his #. You might find him by googling Silcock Transport .
Failing that I used to ship the rally car around on NZ Rail. It was cheaper than any of the carriers. You have to get it to the depot and collect at the other end but they were able to shunt it into their covered car wagon no problem.

I want the whole car. I can put a 3t in it and thoughts were to repaint it and have a tidy run around while I build my other corona.

Captain Transporter is good, used them a few times and will be using them again this week, but they do charge a premium for cars that dont run/drive. The car also HAS to have at least a working hand brake.

All brakes do work but $730 just seems pricey. I'm sure I can get it done for around 600 somewhere
