thread tape on turbo fittings?

Post by snwtoy »

Do I need / should I use thread tape on the water feed fittings on my turbo? If so is there a special high temp tape or is it ok to use the common thread tape found at bunnings etc?

Is this the fittings to the turbo itself? If so I wouldn't use tape. Gaskets or copper washers.

Yes, brass tail fittings for the water feed/return on the turbo. ie not banjo bolts.

Don't think washers/gaskets are suitable for screw-in tail fittings?

On the water feed pipes it will be ok, or you could use loctite Teflon pipe sealant

Edit, are you sure you have te right fittings? I haven't come across any turbos that use bsp or npt pipe fittings into the core for water lines, usually metric banjo type bolts and use sealing washers

Yeah I'm sure. You obviously haven't come across the cheap chinese turbos that DPR sell (or used to) Was so cheap the original oil feed came with mismatched banjo bolt and flange.... one metric one imperial. Took me a while to work out why it was leaking ... haha.
