Registering a car again

Postby FST4RD » Thu May 29, 2014 1:01 pm

Hi all, I have 2 Starion, 1 has rego on hold and pretty much standard, other one has a dead rego, no motor, but roll cage and full on suspension and handling setup. I was going to have 1 for road and 1 for track but have decided to strip the one with rego and get the one with no rego going. Only thing is that I want it to be a road going track car.
The car with the roll cage hasn't had rego since about 1999. Obviously I will need to go through cert and re registering it.
How am I going to get on with ownership? I bought it with dead rego, so no change of ownership, is this going to be a problem?

You probably will need to show a document trail (receipts) that links your ownership, to the last person who had the car in their name.

It's pretty common a thing. Ring whomever will be doing the compliance for you, and they will guide you through what they need.

I still have all the emails and what have you from when I bought it from trademe...
I don't even know how long he owned it or how many people have had it since the rego lapsed.

When I did this with my old AE101, I had to get a Statutory Declaration signed by a JP stating that I was the current owner of the vehicle.

Not too difficult, just took time to track down a local JP to do it.

Also....

Tried them first, nobody there that could help me, they directed me to a lawyer or JP...
