E85 availability
Is e85 becoming easier to find in NZ? Just wondering whether I should buy a flex fuel sensor and run the link with 4D fuel mapping. I know its on pump just up the road from Pukekohe, are there similar pumps near taupo and manfield?

Re: E85 availability
No E85 on tap near Manfeild - there is a guy in Palmy who I believe has it (due to lack of supply sorted a source for his own use) who may sell it. I'm not too sure how accessible it to the public though.

I wonder if NZ will ever have readily available E85 at the pump, in and around the main centres...

As far as I've been able to tell it's fine, so long as you want to buy 200litres at a time - which creates another problem when it comes to storing it after you have acquired it.

Okay, so its on Pump at Pukekohe and Hamilton, so if I fill up at Hamilton and throw a 20L can in the boot i'm probably okay for Taupo. Hampton Downs and Pukekohe are no issue, but SOL for Manfield, unless I find a 60L drum and strap that in the passenger seat (wont fit in the boot of an SW20). Looks like a flex fuel sensor is a worthwhile investment.
Was sort of hoping that things had got better over here, its pretty easy to find in Oz. (In adelaide at least.. and cheap!)

Just so you know anything over 20L of fuel that isn't contained in your fuel tank is classed as DG and you need a D endorsment on your licence to transport
Also if its a large enough amount you need to have signage
I have had cops try to do me before, 40L container however I do have a D endorsement :p
Why dream it when you can live it

I'll disguise it with a jacket, mannequin head & beanie, then I can use the T2 onramps to get out of Auckland!

Re: E85 availability
if you are considering e85 Id say because the availability is so poor it is the best reason to go flex fuel its a pain in the ass to dump fuels between tunes (I know it annoys me) I've still got 15l of e85 sat in the garage that's probably gone shit now because it has sat so long with flex fuel just put 98 on top when your done having fun can't wait for my flex fuel tune.

I doubt it very much as if you didn't notice already its hard enough to get 98 in the WGTN area let alone E85.
I mean in our area the city what is there BP Roadmaster and Mobil Kilbirnie for the 98 and Synergy 8000 thats all I can think of this side of town.
Mobil Jville have Synergy 8000 also not sure about the Hutt.
Man its still easy enough to get Avgas I mean at $3.20 odd a liter at the aero club down at Rongotai there but you have to have your MSNZ card now though.
Re: E85 availability
Johnsonville and Porirua BP have 98, and 98 is now available again at Melling.
Re: E85 availability
In the hutt - Bp melling has 98. As well as Mobil by petone railway station and by hutt hospital. Bp Upper Hutt has also got 98 now.

Auckland is not a problem, the problem is when you get out of Auckland.
For example all of the west coast on south island right through to Nelson. Even in Queenstown area there is no 98 (used to be in Cromwell and Queenstown).
I had to carry two jerry cans full of 98 and that was not enough.
As far as I know the only places that you can get 98 in south island is along SH1 in relatively large towns.
With new tune the car pull stronger with 95 than it used to with 98, and it will be even better with 98...

Re: E85 availability
Yep, I def saw a sign saying Gull Force Extreme or whatever it is they call their E85. You'd have to be a bit daft not to put it in on that site. Now, Taupo and Manfield please.

Here you go guys, a response from Gull:
"Hi,
You can buy E85 from the following Gull stations:
Melville – 82-84 Ohaupo Road
Pukekohe – 50 Manukau Road
Our Hampton Downs site will also supply E85 and is due to open in the next couple of weeks.
If you prefer, you can purchase drums directly from Taupiri Autostore (078246060).
If there is anything else that I can help with, please let me know.
Kind regards"
