Engine bearings.

Postby Grrrrrrr! » Wed Jun 11, 2014 3:50 pm

What are people using apart from soon to be gone ACL Race bearings?

Just curious as to what the alternatives are once the supply of ACLs is gone, which wont be too long since ACL has probably done its last production runs of many bearings now (They close end of the month).

Toyota Genuine?

Anybody using King or Clevite, or got good or bad things to say about them?

I have the last stock of ACL race bearings :)
Only have like 6 sets left though and they are $210 incl for a full set of mains, big ends and thrusts.

After that I will be getting race race series from King. But they have not been into production yet so wont be available for some time.
I can get their OEM series which is about $120 for a complete set of mains and big ends.

Only issue with Toyota OEM is they are hell $$$$ now days.

Out of curiosity, any issue using NDC bearings? when i ask for ACL bearings from staparts they usually supply ndc. right fricken annoying when you actually want to support an aussie company. rebuilds are usually last minute...

NDC bearings are all good, a couple of the other brands STA sell are shithouse though. Their own whitebox stuff can often have a substantial taper

Its the only time in the 13 year ownership of my car we had to do anything to the inside of the motor.

so who said acl are closing?

acl australia have closed.
acl NZ are still going and still sourcing stock from around the globe.
Last time i talked to them about a month ago they assured me they can expect no major issues.

i always run acl race bearings

And it was ACL Bearings Australia that made the bearings.. so are they just relabeling other brands now?
