Endurance season is apon us!!

Le Mans is this weekend.
Not too sure who I want to cheer most for, Brendon Hartley in the Porsche, or the Toyotas!
Currently Hartley is fastest in first Qual session

Yes, Im getting very excited about this too, and Im also torn on who to cheer for...Hartley and Webber, or the Toyota for loyalty, but being honest, either one will be well received by me.

If Porsche can win it on their first year back, that would sure be some accomplishment :)

Lets cross our fingers that nobody is hurt, or worse this year, and that they have finally covered the concrete wall onto the Mulsanne straight with techpro barriers, or at the very least, 4 rows of tyres, as to do nothing would be neglectful.

When it comes down to it, I'm a Le Mans Porsche fan boy at heart, ad din the Kiwi factor and I'm clearly wanting a Hartley driven 919 to win! Can the 917s Grandson match the Legends exploits? The 917s distance record only fell in the last couple of years....

Ive been impressed with their performances so far this year, so lets hope the 24 hour gives them enough time to get everything in place to get to the flag first.

And that Webber doesnt do another flip

Duval has been ruled out of the race on a medical and will be replaced by Mark Gene who I'm pretty sure used to be a test driver for Ferrari.

I think even the Nurburgring 24 hour is this weekend aswell as the Gazoo Racing code X LFA is running with the top teams and not mucking round in the SP8 class like it has been for the last 5 years.

Just to get everyone fired up the Toyota onboard footage at Le Mans.

F%#*$ken relentless thats all I'll say about that lap I'm sure those GT cars are fast and all but LMP1 cars are off the hook fast.

Indeed, whan I saw it, I initially feared for his life, couldnt work out which was the car was facing for a while until I spotted the top of his helmet

Yep, Gene was a Ferrari F1 test driver for many many years.

Great lap that, Coryn, and as you say, just relentless.

Those LMP1 cars are just F-1 cars with a hardtop.

There down force in the corners is F-1 like they just carry so much speed through a corner vs the other cars.

350 yep it looks every bit of that for mine.

I just want to take this opportunity to say that it should be mandatory for every racing fan to attend Le Mans at least once. It's $&#$% rad!

Agreed ^

Bucket list for me is not only attending the 24 hour of Le Mans, but also the 24 hour of the Nurburgring, but when I finally do that, I want to wait until I have enough money in my back pocket to ship my car over on a boat, so I can drive it on the Ring, and then spend a month or so driving across Europe, so I can attend various track days at other great tracks like Spa et al

One day...one day...

Very impressive time given the huge drop in fuel consumption :)

Can they stay there until the chequered flag?

The Porsche is still within striking distance though...

Rain! Chaos!!

So far one Porsche had mechanical issues, one Toyota and one Audi came together with a GT Ferrari big damage to both. Toyota driving back to pits but Audi looks to be out. At the same time an LMP2 car spun into the tyres.

Watching the pitstops the Toyotas leave the pits under electric only then engage the engine 20 meters or so out, they sure accelerate fast on electric!

They are running slow zones for incidents, 60 kmh limit over a section. In car shot with telementry showing a Toyota going from 60 to 280 in a stupidly fast time! It's hit 180 in like 4 seconds 8O

Slightly off topic on Toyota's KERS system.

I remember upwards of at least 6 years ago Toyota having a 4WD KERS system up and going on a old skool GT500 Supra they entered in a 24 hour enduro so them having this sought of tech doesn't surprise me at all. Also at the time this system was alot better than what they were using in F-1.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/65226

I think I saw somewhere they wanted to use the above last year but it got banned.
