Buying wheels internationally??

Postby Mr_procrastination » Sun Jun 15, 2014 1:02 pm

So has anyone experience with buying in wheels from overseas?
Being doing some shopping around and I'm quite surprised at the prices here vs overseas.

Surely if acquiring good brands from Singapore, or Taiwan, (even Japan?) even including freight then must be a good saving?

Thanks,

I've got a set of 19" Work Emotions coming from Japan through Alex at Moonlight Racing. Bit of a wait to get them here but I reckon I ended up saving at least $700. Saw a set brand new for about $600 more, and I got silver which is more expensive (no idea why!) with genuine centre caps.

Same boat as boosted_162(same container actually), got some wheels on their way from japan for a stupidly cheap price, only annoying thing is the wait time.
2x pairs of 14's for $400 landed.

What style wheels are you going for?

Excellent, thanks for the replies..

Well if I could get the good price.. then Work Meister CR0, 16x8 to suit my old celica. Probably +20 at front and +10 at the back.

So what are the web sites, / Companies that people are safely dealing with?
Whats the typical freight prices?

Thanks,

Mine missed the container  coming sea freight separately.

Alex at www.mlracing.co.nz is who me and siren use. Between him and Stacked Inc in Japan they bring over containers about 2-3x a year. Can source basically anything. Brand new wheels, stuff off Yahoo, LSDs, aero parts are all things he has personally got for me.

All up I ended up paying about $2100 for 19x9.5 Emotion CR Kiwami's including centre caps and freight.

I went through a Supra guy who does WTAC in Aus bought a set of Volk TE37 SL's and saved about a $1000 at the same time over the quotes I got here at the time.

Gorilla Industries and the guys name is Shane I'd highly recommend this guy.Great communication which i really liked as soon as he had info he passed it on and I was happy to say the wheels got through customs without me having to pay GST even better.
