Stu , I think someone needs to explain the work "shitter" to you , and how it so does not apply to this

best time around Manfield to date : 1:19:91

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Most car forums do now .... it's because they've gotten to the price now, where people buy them as a cheap rear drive plaything, because things like AE86's are worth their weight in gold.

Looks like a belt I had when a cam seized. What's the theory on why it failed?

No idea yet unfortunately. Pulled the rocker cover off and both cams spin freely by hand and the oil is still full on the dipstick, so I'm guessing it's either from a really old belt or a seized tensioner.

Sorry mate, just saw this now...I bought it off ebay from a vendor with good feedback, tried to install it on friday, and unfortunately it doesnt fit. The central coil cover is too wide by about 3-5mm to fit between the cam covers securely, and if the two bolts are done up at the front either side of the cam gears, the central coil section slowly starts heading off towards the drivers side of the car, meaning both ends cant be secured.

I think its going to take some modifying, and im not sure how it will end up appearance wise, once its done.

Im in communication with the seller at the mo, so will see what comes of it, but a bit disappointing to be honest.

I installed a new clutch slave cylinder, and a new accessory belt, and removed my 11 year old bridgestones, and put on some Dunlop semi slicks to get me through until the Nitto's arrive at the end of the month. Packing the slicks in the car tomorrow to get ready for round 2 of the road and track series :)

New timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and cam/crank seals installed in the FX. Back up and running :). Snapped/stripped belt turned out to just be from the belt being overdue to be changed.

Didn't you change it before you put the motor in? I'm assuming this is your white W1PPED Corolla with the recent blacktop swap?

Yeah this one was for the orange FX-GT that I bought in November last year as a runaround. Had a replacement engine at some stage but no stickers to say when the cambelt had been changed. Was planning to do it for peace of mind in a few months but it snapped before I got the chance. Had the cambelt, tensioner, VVT pulley etc on my white sedan (WH1PPD) a few months ago.

Tried to start it.. removed battery and put it on charge.
Decided to shim the head on the other motor instead. Success, all clearances in tolerance.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Started removing gearbox on the daily AE100 yesterday to replace the clutch.
Pulled the driveshafts out yesterday afternoon, outside, in the drive that hasn't seen sun in weeks. Oh, it was raining too. So I alternated between tidying the garage and removing the driveshafts depending on how much it was raining.
Had to use a 1.5m pipe on the breaker bar to loosen the driveshaft nuts !! (I already knew the right side one is left hand thread ;) )
One of the CV boots is starting to crack, but it's not split yet, so I'll replace that too.
Snapped two rusty M6 bolts taking the plastic drip tray off. :(
Then it was getting dark, so I stopped for the day.

Moved the race car from my storage garage back to the workshop garage down the road to get it ready for next weekend.
Man people look at you wierd when you drive a race down the road,
especially with no front bumper etc.
