Auckland Visit: Which wrecking yards to visit?

Postby ae93_sx » Thu Jun 26, 2014 12:35 am

Hi Guys,

I'll be visiting Auckland for a week shortly and would like to checkout some wrecking yards. I'm interested in yards that have good prices, allow you to take a look around and have a decent amount of old Toyota's & Nissan's.

I've already got the 3 Pick-a-part yards on my list but was interested in any others that may be worth the visit.

As an example, I'm interested in parts from all corollas from ke10 to ae101 as well as N14/N15 Pulsars & Sentra's. Generally speaking a broad range of 70's-90's japanese cars would be fantastic :)

Thanks!

Zebra is good, might need to bring a torch, last time I was there it was a tad dark as it's mostly indoors but no lighting.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

yeah torch is a must at zebra. there are three pickaparts here too as im sure you know. the only place i know of specialising in older stuff is spartan, and while handy to pickapart takanini they sure arent cheap, or particularly friendly. dunno how they would feel about you wandering around their yard either.

when i was into ae86 stuff and was on the garagedori forums a fair bit there seemed to be a general attitude of 'boycott spartan as much as possible'

thanks heaps guys, I'll be visiting Zebra for sure as well as the 3 pick-a-parts.

I've found quite a few yards via google and trademe however I like the idea of being able to browse. I tend to find bits and pieces that I want while looking.

I might visit Spartan for a look anyhow, can't hurt.

Also, do you know of any cheap couriers that will send internationally? ie, i'm hoping to have some nice Corolla and Pulsar parts to send back to Australia.

Thanks again!
