Completely off topic, this is relevant to my interests!!! How long have you had it? How do you find it? I've actually been looking at these things idly on and off for a while and kinda picture one fitting well in my garage.

Seeing as I am partaking in this thread- SFA done with my own car. Ages ago I removed the GT30R and sold it to a mate, but due to moving to Kapiti I decided to pull finger and at least get it mobile to make the move easier and make the possibility of selling it (if I can bring myself to) into reality.

Now I have pretty easy access to a dyno I took it down and gave it a quick retune to suit the stock injectors and tiny turbo, and the thing is hilarious to drive!! It's so strange driving after having had the same car running ~300wkw and needing about 3500rpm or so to get a full on pull on, at which point traction was option - during the drive up to Kapiti I found myself hooking 5th after accelerating to 100kph to find I had actually pulled from ~60kph in 5th effortlessly.... gotta admit, the smaller/spoolier turbo made certain aspects of the drive amusing. Shame nothing happens after 3000rpm :(

Not that it was an attempt to try get performance so much as just make sure the car was running good for whoever was going to be driving it, it made 214kw @ wheels on ~10psi (reached at ~2500rpm) which I thought wasn't too bad... though again, feels like a joke compared to it's old guise haha.

Most of my car playing has been with others, doing varying degrees of tuning and helping people come up with ways of making their cars faster easier - been fun and been learning heaps :) Will possibly be tuning my first Toyota in the next month or so :D

I absolutely love it :D It does everything I want in a car. Comfy as, smooth and pretty quick considering the weight it has to lug around (something crazy like 1800 - 1900kgs!) Auto gearbox is great. Manual mode it shifts super fast while smooth when cruising - I can't daily a manual due to injury so this is perfect. Think I managed 9L/100km driving up the island and wasn't babying it. Stock has no option for LSD which is a pain, but I have a V35 Cusco in mine.

I've done 10000km since I got it in January. Flew to chch for it as it has the lowest mileage at the time (39000km)

Only annoying thing is parts can be a bit of a pain as nobody has heard of them. Lots of parts in the states (Infiniti M45 over there) but shares alot of parts with V35 and Z33. I have a great parts guy so have been lucky to cross reference. Oh and the screen is in Japanese, but have managed to figure out almost everything.

Oh and to keep it on topic now

Went to get wheel alignment done. Rear came out within cert specs after alot of fiddling with the adjustable arms. Came to do front and couldn't get the camber out so will have to get arms for the front too :(

Then proceeded to get beached on the alignment machine  Had to put planks of wood under the ramps to get it off

Fitted the rear bumper to the Corolla, and rewired plate lights to work with the old style plugs. Bought a new boss kit, fitted that and repaired the wiring so the horn actually works!
Wired up a relay for the electric fan, and removed the speaker wire earth wire it had, and now it works too!

(yesterday) Raced the ITR on the Manawatu Car club back track Motorkhana and Autocross.

ITR = fun at racetrack speeds, beautifully balanceable on the throttle.

The organisation of the event was unfortunately a bit of a shambles, and there were so many drifters there that it made for a bit of an interesting day (because people trying to do phat skidz everywhere in f**king noisy cars) due to a few variations in talent. Wasn't all bad, and some of the drivers truly did have some impressive skills. But jesus those guys don't read the rulebook for anything (bonnets that are 95% open vents, no doorcards in cars leaving pointy bits exposed, would you believe one guy in SHORT SLEEVE overalls who says that he has run there before in them). As a car club president, and scrutineer, I was going grey thinking about the liability that the sport was being left open to, with the level of rules ignored.

I couldn't stay all day, because I had to get back to Wellington, so I only got in two autocross runs, because they didn't start that part of the event until about 2pm. Which is a shame, because I love the back track, and those events are the only ones where I can actually use it :(

Also if I see another car with hideously stretched tyres, I'm going to slap the driver up the side of the head. Some of the absolute worst I've ever seen out there yesterday.

b-b-but deathtraps with stretched tyrez is dope as!

it sounds like a lot of those cars and drivers shouldn't have even gotten past scrutineering, if im getting the hard questions over my throttle return springs, the problems you are talking about should be much more serious

I've had that a few times after events I've run. God it's annoying. Luckily, in many cases you just call the police on them using their entry details. Although, spectators are impossible to control, events near main roads are a nightmare for that ... at one event, I couldn't believe it, some old dude in an E-Type Jag did hoonies away from our event, having been watching it. Talk about going against the stereotype of young folk in Cefiro's

Unfortunately it's pretty well muffled stock - if you have a V8 it's gotta sound like one! I've removed both rear mufflers, and put 3" pipe out both sides. Sounds great but not too loud. Being just black 3" pipe it doesn't look modified and doesn't attract attention.

Seen it happen at a heap of events, last track day i went to there was a entrant doing skids the wrong way up pit lane.
Meremere drifts have been hit with it as well with people/spectators ripping it up on the grass pit area and jumping on the un-manned skid pad.
Hampton downs ive seen people sliding around the gravel infield on their way out as well.

It pisses me off and it always happens when ive put my camera away so cant get their number plates.

Anyway enough of a rant, got an alignment for the mx5 today at work, it was pretty far out as i hadnt changed anything after removing the coilovers which raised it about 75mm

Had the power steering pump rebuilt (subarus price for a new one was $1260) and a seal on the oil cooler line replaced as was leaking.

Swapped the Ceramax pads out and put the used honda pads back in, gave it a quick bleed then went for a drive to bed in brakes then test them.. Hunua gorge, Kaiaua and places in between on a wet night..

Installed some Japanese Denso "J Horn Power'd" (wtf?) horns into the sedan today. Still on the fence about which type I prefer - The original horns or the Denso ones.

What do you guys reckon? Video link here: http://vid32.photobucket.com/albums/d2/ ... yMovie.mp4

Drove it for the first time in months... to outside the garage. It got to frolic around on the drive with the other Toyotas all day while I worked on cleaning the garage.

It was even warm and sunny today, hence the photoshop sun flares...

Added this

Flashed appropriate tune with 20psi boost targets. Went zoom-zoom-boom. Exploded engine mount (again). So ordered these

and picked this up to replace my apexi intake

Can't wait for summer so I can put my semi slicks back on for daily use.
