SC oil group buy

Post by AE86less »

Just wondering if anyone is keen on this.

Because of my Scottish ancestry I am unable to pay $104 trade for 150mL of Toyota SC oil. I've found a guy in the states who buys the oil from Ogura (who made the SC12 and SC14 for Toyota) and retails it in smaller containers for US $20ea.

He can get two containers (two fills) in a shipping pack for US $64. I haven't had a chance to enquire about discounted prices or larger shipping rates, but would anyone be keen?

Have a hunt around for alternatives. A lot of people in the US used GM S/C oil (12345982) as it's a fraction of the price. One place said that GM put a service bulletin out that Mobil 1 engine oil was alright to use, but that may be a stretch. One guy in Christchurch said Castol actually recommend Castrol SLX 5W30 in them, and that's from someone at a Toyota dealership.

I'm not saying that any of that is gospel, but it may be an easier alternative than bulk-buying from the states. It should just be a basic gear oil anyway.

I used Castrol VMX in an SC12 for 5 or 6 years with no issues.

The oil in the supercharger only oils the gears that drive from one vane to the other dont they?
So basically just a gearbox, VMX may be fine.
