Wheel Alignment Place(s)
Hey guys,
I had very bad experiences with wheel Alignment places specially Firestone (I always get my tyres from them). Every time I go there they always do these changes which doesn't even fix the original issue i.e steering wheel shaking issue at high speed (I was told to get "O" right to centre the wheel etc, even with that didnt fix the issue still I have the same problem) or when you keep the steering straight (so you think) car either moves to left or right, never straight.
At one stage I think took my car back to them 3 times to get it fixed yet issue persist .
So question is which place would you recommend for wheel alignment?
Thanks

Bit of a travel for ya, but Anthony is an awesome guy to deal with. We use him thru work (and myself privately) and he knows his stuff and is very good at taking the time to explain things to those not in the know.

TA22-build - TA22-blah
I envy those with little interest in cars, for they have money and spare time.

How are you certain it's an alignment issue and not something else on the car worn / a dodgy tyre etc?
Tyres all even wear in comparison to each other, recently rotated and balanced or anything like that?

I just got all 4 new tyres and they did the alignment, this also happened last time with another car. Once again all 4 brand new tyres and they weren't cheap!!!
As far as the car goes, it was fine with old tyres absolutely fine. And car just been through a service and mechanic didn't mention anything else wrong with it. But he did point out I will need new tyres hence I went and got them.

A shake is caused by wheel balance, Not wheel alignment.

Can be both. Depends what they have done to try straighten it up. Often places like Firestone with 16 yr old kids (or a mid 20s dropkick) on the alignment machine will adjust more than just toe to make it track straight but also caster etc without checking or understanding the basics first (what else chamges when you adjust X) and what other geometry changes impact.
The new alignment machines most places have are so easy to use the operator doesn't even need to know or understand anything about alignment geometry, they just do what the machine says to.
Getting a really experienced alignment guy who is clever makes a massive difference they can sort anything

I will taking the car to these guys http://www.precisionwheels.co.nz/. I heard they are the best?
Since they all the high end cars!!!
Will see how this one goes ... This time I will have to pay for the wheel alignment

Make sure you point out what is happening, and when it happens. Rather than just getting the alignment done, they should check it all over.

i would recommend centreline suspension in grey lynn, not the cheapest but (IMO) the best.
they arent just an alignment place, or a tyre place, but a suspension specialist. tell them what the problem is and they will be able to find the cause be it alignment or some other issue.
