Help: Mounting racetech seat in AE101 levin

Postby vr4boy » Sun Feb 15, 2015 1:52 pm

I bought a racetech 4000w seat for my ae101 levin, I got the racetech alloy brackets and some aftermarket Kyouu brackets and sliders to bolt everything on the car, which I have done, only issue I have now is that the seat sits to high and my head in 10mm from the roof, I'm only 6ft so not issue wih my height.

Any ideas on how to mount the seat lower enough the I can fit in with a helmet on? Was never an issue with standard seats.

Cheers
Dan

I have same prob. These cars you cant mount any lower unless you remove the front lower support panel or mod it lower.
Sits too high.

Had the same problem in my Alfa Romeo about fifteen years ago. We ended up attaching a alloy plate to the existing four mounts, then bolting the side mounts onto the alloy plate. Couldn't use the slider as my head was touching the roof.

Ditching the sliders and those Kyouu brackets would be the best way to get some head room imo. Make your own frame that uses the four factory seat mounting points on the floor and bolt the Racetech side mounts to it.

That subframe you got isnt very tall only 20mm ish.
So its not going to change things by a lot.

I modded mine and its still to tall.

Next step I will cut the front support rail so i can lower the seat right down. Its really the only way with these cars if you want to get sitting real low.

Hmm might have to do some cutting, can anyone tell me if I have to have sliders to get a warrent?

Also is it legal to cut the front support rail?

Start cutting and you need to cert it. Mind you, mod brackets or make your own and you need cert anyway.

I need a cert for suspention and brakes anyway, so not a worry there.

In that case, talk to your certifier for what he is happy with and go nuts with the grinder/welder until you fit.

unpick the factory seat mounts and start from scratch. if its a competition car, that is what one should do anyway as most factory seat mounts (particularly the rear ones) will shear off with a good impact

Mount straight to floor Using 80x 80 mm plates underneath. Forget about sliders just drill a few holes if you want to adjust.

Will need authority card but this is only $130 and gives you a lot more freedom.

I also have to cut my tunnel to fit my 4009 in its a but wider than the 1000s at the base.
