Hydraulic Tensioner Difference

Postby goldfever » Tue Jul 28, 2015 2:29 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to sort out the correct hydraulic tensioner for my 1991 MR2 GT.

Now I have ordered the tensioner according to my chassis number. However, on taking the current tensioner off it appears that they are different. Now this could be due to a previous engine change or what not. Alas, I need to find out which part it is.

Does anybody know what the part is[Part Number would be good] on the right? The new part I have ordered is on the left.

Any help is appreciated.

Look the same to me :? Only the one on the left looks like the fixing
holes have flogged due to a loose install.

They are actually two different part numbers.

I posted this on the MR2 forum.

This is the part number for the tensioner 13540-88381 (12/1989 - 04/1991) http://twosrus.com/catalog/product_info ... cts_id=634
This is for the newer version 13540-88382 (05/1991 - 10/1993)

This shows the 3 versions. One is obviously for the GEN 3 engines.
