ae 92 weight reduction look to lose some kgs has any one seen or know of anyone that makes a fibreglass bonnet or hatch ? or anyone got photos of any weight reduction they have done , cut out hatch , doors ect

Ive helped Santa with is lost ae92 Project.

Caged machine so the doors are stripped, and very thin fiberglass sheet use as door cards.
Rear hatch has been chopped up, virtually only a light shell on the inside to hold shape.
Dash has been cut, removing passenger side. Heater modified so it works but only the demister plumbing is left, all else is removed.

I can fiberglass. but moulds cost about $300 in materials and 10-15 hours to make. And that's starting with a good base bonnet that requires no work, eg dents or rust.
then there is making the article out of it... Gel coat colour, thickness, type of material eg chop strand mat, carbon fiber, resin type, all effect price.

I got a fiberglass superchared bonnet for my ae101. Weight is around half at a guess. I dont have exact weight numbers.

thanks for that have you got a photos of the hatch ?
and how much do you think you got out the doors ?

Next time Im over I will ask and take some pix.

Its still at the diet stage, aka no guards, glass or anything else in it other than a seat. I think its also been used as a mobile storage device.

Never know, this may be the motivation needed to get it finished
