TT141 Auto To Manual Spigot Bearing?

Postby Gassy » Tue Oct 11, 2016 8:29 pm

Hey guys, I'm a pretty novice mechanic and I am attempting to swap from auto to Manual in my TT141 '84 Corona. My Auto Transmission crapped itself and I had purchased a T40 beforehand.

The swap has been going well until this point, I was trying to fit the spigot bearing after removing the Auto Trans, not realising the Auto has its own bushing? The guys at the clutch shop informed me of this and said to just "$&#$% it" to get it out.
I tried different things to get it out but It would not budge, one thing led to another and now i'm stuck and have no clue what to do. My friend took a drill to the bushing, does not look good anymore  . I was wondering where I should go/what I should do to resolve this problem.

Will try post pictures but not working for me at the moment

Run an arc or mig weld bead around the inside of the bush. When it cools, it'll shrink and should be easy enough to get out.
See ya

or get a tap that fits into the bush,

Wind it in and use it to pull the bush out?

Probably sorted by now, but your mate had the right idea. I've drilled them out in a similar way to remove them. Can risk scratching the hole but if you're careful then no worries.
