St205 Intercooler pump

Postby matt dunn » Wed Feb 08, 2017 10:00 pm

Hi there,

Working on an ST205 GT4 Celica that has a bad water pump for the intercooler.
From what I have been told they are no longer available for Toyota new.

I have pulled it apart and the armature is worn out and not useable.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what sort of other pumps are available that may do the job and can be fitted in place?

Or anyone have a good s/h one to sell??

Looking for options.

I went through that as well and I settled for a Bosch unit off a mercedes.
They sell for about $100 USD on ebay.
This is the unit I have:

BOSCH 0392022002

But I cannot give a feedback because it only seen a few hours of running (car is in pieces). This particular pump is designed for W/A intercooler application.

I got an inverter cooling pump from a prius . It's a lot smaller physically and works fine for me. Talk to our Toyota parts supplier. I might have it in a picture on my mr2 build thread even.

Try here? No image though but there are the inverter cooling pump part numbers. Those are just from one model. More numbers might be covered in the earlier or later model cars.

This is a recall on the pump so I guess try to avoid getting the defective type?

Yeah the one I got is the same as the recall one. It is new from Toyota though so I would hope that they stopped selling the dud ones once they figured out it had a problem.

Part number is G9020-47031.

Going from the description on the recall it does sound like if you bleed the system properly and don't get airlock in it then you wouldn't have a problem.

Can confirm that this part number is the newer version.
