Toyota HID issues - Light Fade

Hi all,

Have any of you encountered intermittent lights with the Toyota HIDs? I've noticed occasionally my Blades dipped beam is off on one side, after witching the lights on and off a again, all is fine. It seems to be intermittent.

I've read on other forums that the ballast packs are a known fault with prius' in America. Am I finding the same issue? I'm going to swap the bulbs over tonight and see if the problems moves with the bulb. But the description sounds exactly like

The ballasts are at the bottom of the light units... any tips on getting the lights off the car without damaging stuff? I can get ballasts for $40 from our Chinese friends at aliexpress... worth the gamble? They are about $500 from amayama + shipping. I've not been able to get through to any of the Auckland Toyota branches today..

Most likely it is the bulb...
