Hi all,
After years of not having a Toyota in my life I have not bought a new one and am installing a NZ stereo in it to replace the Japanese one.
The Blade I bought has a reversing camera and steering wheel controls and after extensive google searches I have not been able to determine which wires I need to splice to make both features work on my new stereo.
I am installing a Mongoose Q242 which is reverse camera and steering wheel control capable.
Reverse Camera connection on the head unit is a single RCA. The factory wiring for the camera is Black, Blue, Purple and Red in a 4 pin plug. Anyone know which wires I need to convert to the RCA and which I need to splice into the harness for power and ground?
The steering wheel controls are 4 wires also. Red, White, Black and Purple. Any one know which ones go where?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Check for voltage / earth on the wiring loom when the car is running perhaps? That might help narrow it down a bit.
Re: Reverse camera & steering wheel wire help
you will need an external voltage reducer as the camera's on toyota's run on 6 volts from the headunit,
12 volts is not good for them.
Easiest way is to have the original headunit working in reverse with the picture on the display
and unplug cables to see which ones stop the camera.
We have done heaps of different toyota's at work with camera's and steering wheel remotes,
and have got 99% of them to work, but have not struck two wired the same way yet,
all had different plugs on the headunits.

Re: Reverse camera & steering wheel wire help
I figured out which 2 plugs needed for the camera and the steering wheel controls and have isolated the power wire and the reverse switch on the camera but when I put the car in reverse there is no signal.
As for the steering wheel control loom, there is 4 wires on it but only 3 on the head unit. None appear to have power so I am unsure which wire goes with what.
Google isn't the most helpful as the 4 wires on each plug differ from any on google as matt dunn says no two appear to be wired the same
