Tyre flavors
Hi,
Been trawling the forums for a couple of hours trying to get ideas on new tyres for my 2zz corolla wagon. The old TZ700s arnt cutting the mustard.
Found a few older posts with people liking RE003's and F1 D5's. Having a bit of trouble finding them in my size so was wondering if these are still the flavour of the month or others have found some great alternatives?
Side note if anyone has switched up the standard size on their corolla aerotourer z wagon (stock rims) with success Id be keen to hear too. Im runnning 205/60/15s.
Muchas gracias amigos!

Re: Tyre flavors
Is yours a pre-facelift?
We have a 2005 ZZE123 Fielder Z aerotourer on stock wheels and they are 16".

Checked and I have stock rims and tyres for my year.
Re: Tyre flavors
You can get Bridgestone Turanza in your size. Wait until Bridgestone have a buy three get one free/buy one get one half price deal.
Father has them fitted to his Lexus IS250 and they work well. Some quick passes over the Whangamoas and Rai Saddle on SH6 showed they do corner and brake well.

Yep agreed, wait until they have a deal. I got my RE003s on a buy one, get one half-price deal. With puncture warranty etc they came to $189 a tyre from $232 (215/45r17).
I absolutely rate the RE003, best street tyre I've ever bought. You can rock into a corner as quick as you like and it'll turn, even in the wet. Wouldn't ever bother with Ecopias again, I'm getting identical fuel economy numbers from the RE003s with far more grip. My only concern is wear rate, but after a couple of thousand km of fair flogging they still look new with no corner wear.
Re: Tyre flavors
Another vote for RE003, they work brilliantly on the road, and are good on track too. I've got a set on each of my cars, and so do a lot of friends on theirs. Massive performance per dollar.
One thing to consider is they are louder than Turanzas.

Re: Tyre flavors
They don't make a 205/60R15 but do have a 55.

I have these and they are great. A bit louder than the Toyo T1R I used to have but then I did change wheel and tyre size significantly.

Hey Al do you know if the Turanzas were the older T001 model or the latest serenity? Struggling to find decent tires in my size but can get these. Turns out OEM tire size was 195 60 15 too.

Yeah went in today and apparently none in my size or close in the country (neither 195/60 or 205/55/15) which is a bummer
Re: Tyre flavors
RE003 or Dunlop Z2 Star Spec. Personally I’d take the Dunlop but both are good.
As for size, go with a 205/50, they’re common as in this sort of tyre.

Re: Tyre flavors
Had a set of RE002's on my Corolla that lasted 45 ish thousand k's and about 5.5 years. Still have warrantable (just!) tread so naturally went for a set of RE003 to replace them.
Had no issues with the RE002's other than the inside edges wearing due to a kinda aggressive alignment for track.
