moly is quite brittle ... so it's as strong as hell, but then is more likely to "snap" than mild.

If you are looking at 38mm x 2.5mm mild tube, it will have a tensile mpa of just under (or around) 400, while with moly the same tube with a 1.6mm wall thickness will be up around 800. So 1/3 thinner, but twice the "strength".

Add a zero to your material costs though 8O

ok looking at finishing the cage in the dat before this event, what sort of price would be a a guide for the front of the cage? ( already has half cage) Thats including a bar down either side ( along roof and to floor), side intrusion bars, one across the front, and a couple of bars in the roof. Dash will already be removed. Just tryin to get an idea of approx cost, cos i've had varying quotes :?

it'll vary depending on who you go to ... I would guess at a $500 or so ballpark figure.

Maybe try Automotion, or another constructor in your area.

My entire cage cost me $900 + gst!

Six point, single intrusions, extra triangulation from main hoop to rear stays, and a harness / rear strut tower bar.

shit yea 900 is good. this will end up a 6 point cage too, with double intrusion bars and all the jazz. Hey leons whats the story with rallysprints etc, unless otherwise stated in the event regs you dont need WOF/REG eh, just logbook? Are most rallysprints run to this format?

Rally sprints are a funny one, because they require a navigator, therefore full cage, harness' etc.
*usually* only require logbook, rollcage.
*sometimes* require logbook, rollcage, reg wof etc. Because there are two types of road closure that are applied for, and one of them still requires that all cars used are all road legal. The other type of closure means you can run what you brung. So yes, as you say, read the event sup regs very carefully.

That particular one does trip up a few people with vehicles that are no longer road legal, and don't read the sup regs.
