Can't wait for the HKS supercharger to be installed in that Cusco GT86 in November!

Nice. Priced one of those HKS kits up yesterday, would be around 10k fitted and tuned and give the car a true 225bhp and a lot more torque. Would void the warranty though, not sure I would be happy voiding the factory mechanical warranty for such little power.

I think given the way the exhaust system is designed it will be interesting to see how they will use forced induction on a factory model, supercharging seems logical.

I know Toyota are working with BMW on something, would be cool if they could top mount the turbo like BMW do.

Working with BMW to create the new Supra eh? They said something about "Creating a sports car in a different league to the 86 and will go into production soon" and didn't discard rumours that it was potentially the new Supra. Took them long enough to make the new Supra but I guess after the success of the 86, they thought "Why not?"

I was under the impresion that the LFA was the new supra?

500 LFA's made 50 of that 500 were the Nurburgring Editions.

This is interesting but as Gran Turismo 5 doesn't have any NZ tracks then not much use here. But it seems like Bathurst will be in GT6.

Drove a manual 86 on Wednesday night. Long story short, if I could afford it I'd have one, for the moment I'll just have to steal my parents one which arrives next Tuesday

I can't imagine why you'd need more brakes, would have to be for serious track use

New Supra should be interesting. The New BMW M3 is said to have three turbo's on a inline six, now if they can build a "Supra" on that platform and sell it for cheaper than a M3 they will have a winner.

LFA? Meh. I choose to ignore the LFA as anything more than a massively expensive failure and would go as fast as to say it is one of the most pointless cars every created, the fact Toyota built it is even more amazing. It costs over $700,000 and is not as fast as a Nissan GTR that costs $170,000 and it is nowhere near as good as anything from europe costing half what it does. And even then Toyota loose money on it. Fail.

That was my thoughts too, if you need bigger brakes you need bigger balls.

If you drive the 86 properly you will not be slowing down a lot and will learn to use cornering speed as a way to keep the thing moving briskly, I only drove one 50 odd km on some nice back roads but found the brakes to work fine, they made a few smells but never faded.

What was the point? Lets spend 10 years building something that is not as good as a Ferrari? Or was it lest showcase how much we suck at F1 buy pouring all we know form sucking at F1 into a pointless road car that we will charge way too much for? Seriously, I cant even figure out who they were targeting it at? I have completely missed the point.

Was looking through STM's pictures from Time-attack and spotted this, they should build this with a Turbo and put STI badges on it!

Can't be all that bad if they all sold out as fast as they did.
It was a marketing and development exercise. Lots of new tech you will see come through on other models.
And you should proably check some of your performance comparisons.

^ i think TTEETT if you bothered having a look, the LFA is 10 seconds a lap quicker around the Nurburgring than the GTR, 4 seconds faster then the nearest Porsche (911 GT2 RS) and 11 seconds faster than the nearest Ferrari (enzo) while being 5th overall.

Sure thats only 1 track but as it seems to be the performance cars industry yardstick i feel I have just made your previous comments null and void.

What do you mean a waste of time all the tech developed in it will be filtered down through the Toyota range going foward.

As for it not being it as good as Ferrari's well all the FR platformed Ferrari's it was compared against the 599 the HGTE and the GTO it out performed and was a more memorable drivers car.Check EVO's camparisons.

Also the LFA's V-10 was voted engine of the year 2011 and is still rated ahead of the latest Ferrari's 730 Hp V-12 by EVO magazine.

7.14 round the Nurburgring the GTR can't touch it round there.

So I don't really understand the pointless exercise you think the LFA is comment.

I like the LFA for being something different, I just think he means you can make a GT-R like, a hundred millions times faster around the track for probably less than half the money the LFA costs :p

You show me the specs of a GTR that is 100,000,000 times faster and i'll agree :lol:

You could make a corolla faster than a stock GTR for half the cost of a GTR too. The LFA is very much a niche car, if you can afford one, you don't buy it based on "bang for buck" value :lol:

You buy it for whatever reason you want.
