Anyone else have their eye on the FT86?
So things have been heating up as the date closes for the FT86 production model release (Nov/Dec), and this past week has seen a heap of leaked information inclusive of production model photos, optional extras and interior shots.

I been keeping a check on it since forever, thanks to constant AE86 remake rumors.
I cant wait to get behind the wheel of one, but im not sure i i will be able to afford a NZ new - thank god for jap imports!
Just wanting to know if anyone else has had their eyes on this new toyota candy??

I loved the AE86 (well not in standard form...few dollars were spent) but there will never be another production car like it, too many regulations and safety equipment etc.
FT86 will probably be like an updated Altezza really.
I walked around the concept car in Paris last year and its very nice but it'll never have that light weight raw feeling like the original.

Yup, I'm following it closely. I'm on ft86club as well (same username).
It's looking really good. I was't expecting it to look as good as the Concepts, but I think they've done a really good job for what will probably be $45-$55K around here.
200hp
1200kg
RWD
6spd
TorSen LSD
Direct & Port Injection (D4-S as used in the IS350)
Centre of Gravity between Porsche Cayman and Ferrari 458 (Forgot the actual number)
Front: Macpherson struts
Rear: Double Wishbone
If that doesn't sound good for a 2012 car at $45-$55K, considering the weight gain almost every other car gets because of regulations, then I don't know what is!
To give everyone an idea of the CoG:
It's the FT86II, not the production version, but they should be VERY close (if not exactly the same) in terms of the engine mounting height.

That's all I've heard so far
I wouldn't hold that price as gospel, could change. Might be like the Scion range in the states where you buy a car then decide on wheels, body kits etc

Would guess they would be using a Boxer motor due to it producing more torque then a standard 4 banger in the same guise?
