Subaru WRX RA 95'

Post by MR2_ROO »

So, i know this is the toyota site but i was asked this today and i couldnt answer it...

A WRX RA is always the 206kw STI or can you get plain jane WRX RA with the 168kw output??

This is in a 1995.

Just curious because i found a good deal on one and want to make sure its the STI version.
If it is, whats the diff between a normal STI and an RA??

We get a lot of fake STIs through my work which we have figure out what they really are. I real RA will be STI spec(205kw) with very noticeable features i.e. manual window winders, roof vent(never open that whilst driving), no rear wiper etc.

If it has those certain things it WILL be an RA. Also I think they're supposed to have red intake manifold.

I think the pre V3 RA's were normal 168kw, and then they made the V3 STi RA's with the 205kw motor...trouble is, they mixed and matched so many bits, it can be hard to tell. Particularly if it was used as a rally car in Japan then imported, it can have all kinds of odd bits.

All STi engines have the red manifold
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

ya all STi engines have red intake manifold, too easy to paint though! im pretty sure you can get WRX RA's, they also are supposed to have black wing mirrors & door handles (ie not color coded)

and like people have mentioned, wind up windows, no aircon, etc etc...
