20v Pistons into 16v

Post by ee904age »

Does anybody know what affect on the C/R putting silvertop rods and pistons into a 16v will have (if any).

Im getting a set off HRT and just need to know what head gasket thickness Im gonna use.

Why would you want to use 20v pistons in a 16v? :?

why not? Im getting pistons and rods together, so I would prefer to use the newer pistons than use my 18 year old ones again.

Do you know if the valves clear the 5-valve pistons?

I would have thought that the silvertop ones would make less power in a 16v. If you want more copmpression then shave the head and use a trd gasket. maybe get some new pistons off mr revhead if the need be.

BTW too much compression and youll lose power with the stock ecu as youll have to retard the timing.

20v pistons

Yes you can do that, ive done it to a mates car and am going to do it to my car as well. Had to put on an adjustable fuel pressure reg to allow for the raised comp ratio :D

Thats what I wanted to hear!

The engine may be going F/I in the furure so I'd rather not do anything irreversible the the engine itself, such as shave the head. At least by rebuilding and fitting slightly higher comp pistons and a TRD gasket, its easy enough to swap the pistons to GZE ones and go turbo in the future.
