installing seats

Post by TruenoBoy »

What are the rules on installing seats, I am looking at putting in a couple of bucket seats from another car into my hilux to replace my bench seat.

Seat belts in the hilux are bolted to the floor and seat belts on the seat I am getting are bolted to side of the seat. So I should just be able to use the seat belts already in the hilux?

If the bolt holes on the bucket seat rails dont line up with the factory seat mounts do I need to certify if I say weld on a plate/s to the rails so I can bolt to the factory mounts? To the best of my understanding you only need to cert if you change the mounting posistion, or if you bolt a frame to the factory mounts and then bolt a seat to that.

is that correct?

hmmm as of my understanding I should be able to do it without a cert as I am only moddifying the rails and not the oem mounting points or seatbelt mounting points.

can anyone confirm?

Technically you are correct, but whether the WOF guy agrees is a different matter. Getting mine certed anyway, since I'm getting the engine done. Just make sure you use grade 8 bolts, is actually cheaper than buying high tensiles from repco or super cheap.

yep, technically as long as you dont alter those two things, you can do whatever you want with the rails (within reason.)
