4AGZE AFM persistent error 52 (knock sensor)

Hi Guys, I am having a weird problem ... it all started with knock sensor producing an error intermittently, I have then cable tied the wire going to the sensor and the problem seemed to go away for a while ... when it stated happening again, I decided to change the sensor and it was fixed again for less then a day .... and now no matter what sensor i plug in, the error pops up as soon as I exceed 3000 rpm ... regardless if its under load or not. Hence I concluded that the ECU must have been toasted...

Now, I am looking for a 4AGZE AFM ECU or another knock sensor.

PS: If anybody can shed more light on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. :roll:

dunno about the error code, but my gtz had the same problem the wire onthe Knock Sensor had broken off, got a new sensor and was all fixed.

Check your ECU plugs, these contacts are very sensitive and any poor contact between the pins of the plug & the ECU itself can cause all sorts of stress.
Maybe worth a try wiggling the plugs while the car is running & see if the error code comes & goes due to a poor connection.

yeah sounds like a wiring issue to me.

3000rpm is the usual time for the light to come on if theres no sensor present.

4agze ecu are know to crap out 5volt output.(i've been told) don't know about knock sensors. best to see an auto sparky!

Yeah thanks guys, I figured as much, I tried 2 more sensors today and still the same problem, error comes up as soon as RPM exceed 3000 ... I have even tried running a separate wire to the computer from the sensor - in case there is a break in the loom ... but nothing seems to fix it, so I concluded that its a toasted ECU ... so if anyone has got one ill be keen :lol:
