Stock for stock, yes the 20v has a fair bit more performance, especially the blacktop, as for reliabilty i still dont think you can beat the old 16V technology!!

WTF? There's figures on paper that say the 20v puts out more power stock than a 16v.
What do you mean 'better' ?

the newer the engine usually means more powerful than old because of the better technology, but the more "advacned" or with the better "technology" just means more can go wrong

standard yes, a blacktop seems to have a bit more performance than a redtop 16.
i havent driven a silvertop, but i seem to have negative perceptions about them, im not sure why.

Dont belive everything you read snwtoy. The figures toyota put out on the 20v are bull. it's been covered many time's. I say 16v cause 20v take it up the jacksie!!!!!

does it then make it logical to assume the 16v figures are just as inaccurate?

I haven't seen anything to convince me the 20v Silvertop is any better than a normal 16v, most of the dyno figures with basic mods are pretty similar.
Black top is better though

Yeah, the blacktop seems to put out a good amount in many cases, but the silvertop often seems to be a let down.
Perhaps due to high ks, on a high revving engine?

Who needs fifth gear, when you're driving a 4age like it should be driven?
It's not as if either of them are famous for having gobs of torque.
