knock sensor in caldina gtt
hey guys my caldina gtt engine check like keeps coming on plug it up to a machine thing and it says its the knock sensor,
i've been told correct me if i am wrong, it detects knocking from like the big end bearings,
any chance it could be a faulty knock sensor??
any way of find out if it is??
or could it be my big ends any way of finding out if they are
any help would be great as yea first time i've heard of a knock sensor

I knock sensor detects when an engine is detonating. (not working correctly) Nothing to do with the big end bearings. It works by retarding the timing of the engine usually I think to stop the detonation.
all explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking
Detonation kills engines, so might have to get the knock sensor tested and replaced if faulty
what fuel do you run it on?

From factory they usually do ~12-15lb, if it is only doing 8, something is up.
And use 98.

maybe you should upgrade to 98 or else you may have issues with excessive detonation = problems.
i would start by using 98 though

Alot of people seem to have their caldina's around 8psi, no idea why.. somthing up with factory bleed valve?

Sort of, the bleed valve is closed by the ECU to limit boost. This can be cause by knock sensor failure, excessive knock, low engine or intake air temp, and a few other possible reasons that put the ECU into "Low Boost" mode.

It's not giving it sh*t that cause it to come on, it's when you exceed approx 50km/h for a period of time (about 5-10 secs) and the ECU does not detect a signal from the knock sensor.
It comes on because the knock sensor is broken, using 98 won't fix that. You need to check the codes to make sure it's the knock sensor (code 52), then replace it, or you will very likely do some other damage to your engine. At the very least have excessive fuel consumption because of the reduced power from the retarded ignition timing.

my knock sensor wasnt tightned enough and used to get rattled out of the block slightly and that caused the engine check light to come on, i coudnt get a socket back there so had to tighten it regulary, but once i tightned it fully there was no problem
the faster u go, the quicker u get there

I bought my caldina not long ago and it only runs 8psi as well
is there any way to overide the ECU and make it run the higher boost
I have tested the turbo vsv valve and it works just not sure how to test
it on the vehicle to see if the ECU opens it up or not
