BMW e36 transplant ideas?
with the racent purchess of a BMW e36 318is i now have jumped the gun and are looking at ideas for next year. thought about just putting a turbo on the standard engine but dont know alot about them yet an still learning. my idea at the mean time is to put in a 2jzgte or 1jzgte. i have been told to put in a 1UZ.
I also already also have a perfictly fine rb30 sitting in the shed that i dont know what to do with. im just gathering ideas at the moment. i'd like to keep price resnable. if not i'd do the M3 S50 engine conversion but i'm not ritch. things im looking for are enough power down low, but something that will get off its ass when the throttle is opened. i have already had people go me about inbreading a bmw. feel open to discuss possable engines to use, advantages & dissadvantages. prices and customisation.

I'd go with the 1UZ conversion too. Apparently it's a lighter engine than the 2jz, you don't have to worry about turbo lag (unless you want to... hint hint nudge nudge
) and they have pretty much the same fuel consumption as a 2JZ - though I imagine turboing it would screw that some what.
Brute force and ignorance always prevails.
Failure comes from too little brute force, or too little ignorance.

RB26 head, high comp pistons and make it an NA screamer... although not too sure on how that would work out. Always wanted to make a high comp Subaru Impreza for a laugh.

RBs (and EJs for that matter) are really not that flash for NA haha. Don't know how wide the E36 engine bay is, otherwise a VQ37HR would be an awesome motor. Get well over 200rwkw with boltons with a light revvy NA 6cyl... tasty. A VK45DE would be awesome too....

haha funny that there is a rebuilt RB25 with a rb26 head on it in the shed but that is going in the commodor as soon as i find a turbo and ecu to match. anyway engine bay is renesably large i'll get a pic. i have heard quite alot of talk of putting in a LS1 (commodor, chrysler V8) in but they are quite pricy.

In a performance car mag a while back there was a BMW race car running a RB26 which seemed to fit nicely.
