st190 - 191 dizzys compatible ?

Post by Maggs »

I just bought and installed a dizzy from a st190 for a corona st191 as the wrecker said it would work. Car started for half a second ,now wont start at all. starter now turns over very fast and high pitched. Rotor moves. Obviously the dizzy or could something else be wrong ?

an ST190 has a 4SFE a ST191 has a 3SFE, larger engine, hence different numbers. However, there is 4 different dizzy's in those vehicles that we have struck, 2 different external coil type dizzys and 2 different internal coil dizzys, the difference is in the number of wires in the plug. If the number of wires in the plug it does the same job.

Have you checked to see that it hasn't jumped a tooth on the timing belt?
