Good night out, not really any quick times but no big delays & some decent burnouts at the end.
Congrats to Crampy for taking out 'that granada' and winning DYO

Congrats Crampy....I was about to introduce myself but they called C1 to their cars. Next time I see you around i'll say gidday!
Im slowly getting my times down to the glory days but I really struggle with my 60fts.......1.87 secs nowdays compared to 1.71 with less power.
Mite take the Aristo down next time so we can line them up and have a bit of fun

Cheers dude.
Good to meet someone from TS there.
Thanks for the heads up about that Granada too, but he was dispatched easy enough. I was more worried about that Fraser (?) kit car. He was gutted to red light in the final and I was pissed I didn't see he had red lighted. If I had, I would of leant on the car a bit more to see what it actually could have run.

No worries dude.
I didn't really have any time to watch any racing, a bit annoying. I was a little late getting in which was no good for running DYO. They were only going to give me the one qualitfying run, but I squeezed in with two. Still not ideal, as the car could have run faster than my 14.9 dial in by the end of the night.

Hmmm, my 60fts were shocking. The best one was *cough* 2.55 secs *cough*. My first run was 2.71
From then I had a bit of a procedure in place. Double foot launch, with the park brake on as well. Load up the trans to around 1000-2000 rpm. When good to go: floor it, release brake with left foot and pop park brake with left hand. Haha, busy time, but it did seem to help.
The first turbo is lacking somewhat, as when it hits 4000rpm and both turbos are online, it hauls away nicely. Might look into doing some boost mods for next time. I need a fan on my intercooler too, so I can get rid of some heat when lining up.
With some more runs under your belt I'm confident you'll be able to shave a whole heap off those ET's, I've seen a relatively unmodified (save for nitrous
) example virtually identical to yours cut a high 12. Even had another 100+ kilo's of sounds, still went bloody fast. All about the launch, this fella used the nitrous primarily to get it up on song immediately rather than any significant power boost.
Unfortunately he stacked it at a nightspeed event and the repairs are taking a while.

Does yours have an LSD Crampy? Pretty sure the other 12.9 @ 174kph sec Aristo which crashed has a torsen fitted and was using drag radials so it tends to be able to use all its grunt as well as the big NOS shot
Our Aristo is still a single spinner.......
What was your best time Crampy? The best I got out of ours was a 15.3 @ 166kph when it had exhaust and filter. Would hope to be able to run a mid 14 nowadays but like you say they are such a tricky thing to launch!
Will you be there at the next one? Would love to get them lined up - would make a good pic too

Yeah dude. Someone was telling me about that car on Friday night. Something about a full track burnout ending in slapping the wall
Nitrous certainly would have helped with 60fts for sure.
I'll look into doing this boost mod for next time maybe (provided I have time to work on it): http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/su ... _beast.htm
It's for increasing boost in general (over 4000rpm), but also how to increase boost under 4000rpm (turbo #1 only operation).
Also, I was doing a burnout at all, as even with the TRC selected off it's not actually off. Dunno whether to pull the fuse for next time though, it might cause issues on the track. DYO is all about being consistent, so I don't want to ruin that side of things. I think a lot of the guys I was against had issues getting off the line cleanly, which obviously ruined the chance of getting the dial in.
During the night no one I came up against beat me in R/T, so that's what helped me get through to the final. I was just lucky the kit car red lighted on the final, as it would have been a hard-fought battle at the end of the track.
Oh also, I really doubt my car will be able to do 12s. I plan on getting deeper into the 14s, but I'd say that'll be the limit on my setup. I'd say 13s will be out of reach let alone 12s. We'll see for next time though.

Ummm, well I can't tell you if it has an LSD or not to be honest. No skids for me, or even bothered jacking it up to check. My guess would be non-LSD though.
That's a damn good trap speed (166kph). That'd easily be a 14.
My best time was on the final with a 14.993 @ 151kph (on a 14.9 dial in). That was with me backing off, as I didn't want to break out. I did a 158kph on the second qual run though. I'd say it might have gone faster on the final, as it was much colder and I was popping my bonnet after each run at that stage. My air intake isn't ideal. I'll look at boxing it up a bit, to stop it heating up so much. I also had my fog lights out, to get some more air into the stock intercooler.

The current plan is I will be there, but things can change (typical really).
So yeah an Aristo line up would be pretty sweet.
I'm planning on going earlier next time, so I can practice a bit more and maybe try some more things. Some guys had over 4 runs under their belts by the time I even turned up.
A bit OT, but this is why I love Toyota's:
Drive from work in shocking peak traffic to get to the drags (late). Race all night (with a boot full of shit I might add) 8 passes in total. Drive to Hamilton from there. The next day the old girl was hauling stuff to help my Mum move into her new house. Nice
Tows really well too.
NOTE: I didn't actually have "shit" in my boot.
haha great pic mate, they really are an awesome versatile car
You will be really suprised at how well they can handle too with basic mods! The only downside with ours is the seats as you are kinda flung about in the cabin and with side airbags fitting an aftermarket one will mean deactivating the system.........hmmmm sorry goin OT there.
14.9 and backing off is a good sign. You seem to have the launch sussed
What kinda tires do you use?

It's only got Nankangs on it at the moment. Pretty much brand new though.
Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II. 235/40R18 on the front and 265/35R18 on the rear.
Still need to install a boost gauge, as I don't know if the TOMs computer has increased the boost or not.
Yeah ill be there, will be keeping an eye on the weather though.
