Quad Throtts on a 3sge beams
Wanting to put a set of quad throttle bodies onto my 3sge in my ke36, ive decided to do this to give me room for a brake booster as the standard plenum sits where the booster is. From what ive found the qtb set up off a 20v have been used, black or silvertop? Could i use standard mani and mod to suit qtb's? Or make a new custom 1. Will be running a link computer. What else will i need to do when putting this set up on?

Use blacktop ones iirc they are 45mm where as the st ones are 43, some one will no doubt correct me.
Have a look at truenotchs (palmy member) project page as he's running quads on a es with a link so you might be able to see from his pic's some stuff and ask him other things you can't see

just remember that the 4age black top 20 valve uses 45mm throttles as std
and the manual altezza 3sge motor has 11.5 to1 comp 35mm inlets plus 29.5 exhaust
runs 26 cam degress of movement std with 12 mm on inlet and 11.8 on exhaust
43mm would choke it
also have done tests with std motor with 45mm 48mm and 50mm
end result that the 48mm made more power and torque all over the rev range till 7600 rpm then the 50mm quads took over as in power and torque
the reason TRD used the black tops ,as it was a toyota part
,so they didnt have to make new parts for the motor
also most of the parts were in fact 1st made up by bates motor sport so they could run targa peter gave TRD the specs and they were made up
in inlets for quads they are 630 aussie each with postage or for the new zealanders they are 900 nz to your door [/img]

They are miles too big for blacktops, which is why a lot of people use silver top ones when building a hot 20v.
There are many engines out there making tonnes more power per cyl than 3sge's that use the silvertop ones. They are good for quite a lot of power.
Imo it would be worth considering silvertop ones on a stock engine for better velocity, rather than going too big and losing some midrange torque because your ITB's are too big. Which would be rather important if this is a road car.
I would be mildly surprised that the same ITB's that suit the TRD engine would also suit the stock one perfectly.
Worth a look IMO.
Got dyno plots of stock engines with differing ITB's? I can imagine quite a few people would be keen to see them.
Have never heard that story before, I would be rather more than mildly surprised if that was the case. I think maybe you are confusing the Aussie TRD built S2000 car that was built in around 2007/8?
Because the IS200 (rebadged Altezza) they ran was near stock apparantly

1st couple of years they ran it as TOYOTA TRD race altezza using ELF fuel and motec injection with all of the parts same with close ratio 6 speed ands 4.8 diff ratio
then rules were changed and they had to run a std rs200 there after
the s2000 rally car all of the parts are in house and pistons and rods are from the usa ,cams from japan etc with there own plenum design,
and a very narrow power band from 6500 to 8500 ,hence the sequential gear box

yeah I noticed that after I posted (took me about 10minutes between clicking reply and actually posting)
Good to see Celica RA45 found this post, as usual lots of good advice from him. I just wish I had the money to put into building a NA using all the development he has done on the engine - but for now my stock engine will have to do.

If you look at the standard beams intake manifold, the intake runners are 45mm inside diameter anyway.
Besides, the only place where velocity is important is right at the head, if you are running smaller than 45mm it will have to increase in cross sectional area to the port, reducing velocity.
Even with 45mm ones there is still more cross sectional area at the standard intake port, which is probably why 48mm or bigger works best...
