poor kid killed at such a young age, and the mother might loose the other one, all cos of some d!ckweed in his FAKING POS S15 thinking he's the drift king, that guy should kill himself now, cos his life is truly not worth living,

its only across the road from linwood primary school and 1 minute from my house, was coming home from work to find the streets all blocked off.
there are SO many people on that stretch of road its not funny,
school, park, play ground, shopping mall, major buss stop, over 30 thousand cars use that road,

the shit is going to hit the fan on christchurch streets. hope they crack down on trouble minority.

Make an example of this idiot! (yes, there is a small chance that it was a simple accident, but Im doubting that. Being predjudice, its a boy racer style car, so chances are the guy was being an idiot, he was young, it was wet, and there were lots of screeching tyres (says witnesses) so chances are he was trying to drift maybe. I also live not far from here, and I to have a young baby which we walk up our street, this guy could easily have hit my partner and child.

Make an example of him!

Fncking idiot!

It's not going to look good for the owner of that car,

But it's quite possible that he didn't really know how to handle a rear-drive car in the wet, being that maybe he's only 18.

Those painted callipers and mags aren't a good look already.

at least there has one slight positive from this article; he didn't get flamed for driving a modified car and chucked in the 'boyracer' cliche

but other than that what can you say? $&#$% idiot 5pm!?!

From SNZ

Sadly this is one of our members and one of my best friends This is gut renching as this member isn't the sort of guy to go drifting on the street, he is a very nice kid and anyone who has meet him would agree with me, my heart goes out to the families who have been effected by this but my heart must also go our to our member, this is one of the worst things that can happen in life and this is a true tradity

Also i have talked to him.... to all you $&#$% Jumping to conclusions go jump of a cliff, your $&#$% Scum! He has told me he wasnt trying to drift, wet road + white lines + gear change + little experiance = this, So All you $&#$% who are making these comments imagine if that was you... imagine how Sh!t you would feel and the way you are all acting makes me ashamed to be apart of this club!

He must have been going pretty fast though.. to go up the curb and into someones front yard. And everybody knows how silvias are.. DRIVE TO THE CONDITIONS

Re above post. I dont belive that, ive never lost control while changing gear. His foot was well down on the gas, it has to have been. I bet there had been many other cars change gear going past that spot yesterday that didnt loss control. Driver error, simple.

He may not have been trying to drift. But he certainly was going way too fast. To loose control just because you touch a white line while changing gear you would have to be pushing it a bit :?

I'm not familiar with the layout of the road/intersection. But I do know the area and the amount of traffic that would be around there at that time of day...
I guess more facts will come to light but it certainly does seem he was being an idiot.

Sounds like he may have fish tailed it taking off from the intersection.

This is the perfect example of why the government want to restrict access to powerful cars for young drivers.

It seems odd to me that probably 100's of other cars drove around that corner in those same conditions yet this car which is renowned for being a driftorz cars is the one that ends at least 1 life

idiots can still be idiots with 5 hp cars.

Yes, very true, but in a less powerful car its less likely they will get as much speed and loose control in a short distance, and also less likely to loose control when doing anything other than going straight!

Idiots will always be idiots.

If you limit the power of there weapons you limit the distance at which they can kill from! A car IS a weapon!

Was it a turbo S15?

While I see possible merit in some restrictions, I would not want to be the one to make those rules 8O

According to a post on SNZ it was a SR20DE, but not sure how accurate that is.

The Police were on Radio Live giving a statement this afternoon after speaking with the alleged offender and said they were confident it wasn't due to 'Boyracer' activity but they will be laying charges.

putting limits on what cars people can own is good however people will then have to buy cheap older crappy cars. Now already theres a problem, since their safety is out of date by todays standards (airbags, abs brakes, side intrusion bars etc) I've seen kids drinving around in these crappy old cars and if anything they drive them harder/more stupidly than newer cars. since its a crappy old car it doesn't matter they're cheap.

basically then need to change how we get a licence (australia's way are better with log books) we've recently put the drivers age up right??

Boyracer is a made up term anyway. At the end of the day, he was driving a powerful RWD car in the rain and was obviously not driving to the conditions. I don't give a crap how much of a "good sort" the guy is, you don't f**k up that badly without being an idiot. If you can't drive a car in the rain, walk. Would have saved a life.

Can only speculate as to how it happened, but I drive around normally in the wet all the time and haven't yet fishtailed down the road and ended up on the footpath. So my theory is, as above, he was doing something wrong/stupid. I have no sympathy for what he is feeling, think of the kids and their family.

As for the guy preaching on the other forum, if that was his children involved would his opinion still be the same? Not likely, what a douche.

The police say "lost control in wet weather" the MEDIA says: "Boyracer Kills 4 year old child"

I see you are all fired up by the Media.

Media 1 ... Public assumption 0

 It is so sad to have a child die no matter the circumstances. My heart goes to both Family of the children and the driver of the car. We don't assume our spirited driving actions will result in the death of anyone... do we!

 If any of you have NEVER done anything 'wrong' whilst driving then you can comment... but until such time as you can find yourselves blameless then perhaps 'we' should all settle down and be thankful none of 'oh sh!t' moments have killed anyone.
