Though when you pay $40 for a pair of axles stands, you gotta wonder...

You get what you pay for. I'd have thought this would have been in the news or something considering how often people getting crushed by their own cars makes the news. Aah well hopefully no one here found out the hard way 8O

Repco > Supercheap IMO. I've had to return so much stuff to SC that just plain didn't work

Totally. I always make sure I have my receipt for stuff I get from SC. More often than not I have to return it. Hell I even had to return a fibreglass repair kit once because it was missing half the stuff and I forget how many cans of spray paint I have returned because they aren't pressurised

Doesn't really matter where you get it from, if you pay f**k all for it, what can you expect with anything

I always go to Supercheap though as its cheaper  I've had all sorts from there, 95% of which is still fine. Beats paying ripco prices thats for sure! I'm only talking small crap though, like circilp pliers, sand blast gun etc etc

Does make me wonder about my small set of axle stands though *cough* topmaq *cough*. Either way have a backup in place and it won't matter if it fails.

No would have been more recent than that, probably 07 08, they had a swag of recalls.
I doubt any retailer will be immune to this while retail people want to pay peanuts for things.

Yeah its the price we pay for being such cheap consumers!

Its often a case of why pay for good stuff when you can get a no brand set for so cheap. Happens with everything you can buy. Which can be both a good and bad thing at times. I sometimes find it hard to find a good product as the market is so flooded with cheap crap designed to last 5 minutes 8O

Powerbuilt/Wayco ones are fine, they meet all the necessary standards.
