Economical and fun cars for tall drivers

The most perplexing and important question facing humanity at this very moment!

What is an economical, yet fun to drive car that is suitable for tall drivers (ie. 6'5" over...)?

The only two I've come across so far in my time are AE8x and 73-75 Mitsubishi GTO. Unfortunately both are also classics now so nearer 10k than not.

Other vehicles that are great for the vertically enhanced, but not particularly great for economy:

GZ20/MZ20 Toyota Soarer
UCF10 Toyota Celsior
JZS147 Toyota Aristo
JZA80 Toyota Supra

All of these I've driven and give the seal of approval for providing adequate comfort, leg and head room for the gifted among us :)

So... who among yee is of the gifted lanky ones and can suggest cars that manufacturers have courteously provided for us of imminent stature? :)

I used to have a Mini Clubman with Recaros fitted, I'm 6.2" and if I put the seats right back I couldn't reach the pedals! Plenty of room all round and heaps of fun to drive!

thought about a e36 onwards 323/5/8i bmw? Got a mate thats just over 6ft that loves my E36 coupe because its one of few cars that he has full leg room in the front.

Get a manual one, and they are stupidly fun to drive. Not so powerful you keep getting tickets, but not so underpowered that you get bored.

yeah aw11s have $&#$% loads of leg/head room. For fun/initial outlay/maintenance/running costs i'd say the AW11 would be hard to beat.

$4k would buy you a solid runner with a straight enough body, and you could get 350-400kms out of a tank for commuting without going crazy.

Only thing I found with my AW11's was my left leg and the factory steering wheel...
Got a smaller steering wheel and it was fine.

Yeah stock wheel makes it a bit silly, I couldn't drive mine safely with stock wheel!


Could always get an XR8 on LPG :P

I've driven an AW11, and its as bad as an MX5. I've also driven an FD Nick :P


Please note... tall drivers are 6'5" and over, anything less is just average or midget :)

So far the best option is the BMW... :D

MX5s suck, especially with hardtops :cry: I'm only 6ft 3 and I had to have my head tilted to one side.

I can't think of a single car that I've ever driven that hasn't been right back on its' rails...
