Lvv certification query

Post by MR2SIK »

So just failed a warrant because my car is still registered on the vtnz system as having a lvv cert for adjustable suspension and my car now has no plate and standard suspension.
The previous owner had his mechanic revert to standard and in the process the plate was removed as per what should happen.
Guessing it was never registered properly if that was the case.
Question is, with it still listed as having an lvv cert, can i get a replacement plate and re install the suspension it was certed with?
Or if not,
How do I go about getting it listed as not having an lvv cert so I can get a warrant?
Cheers.
I will also give the local cert guy a call on Monday, but thought I'd try here as well

Unless his mechanic is a certifier, I don't think it's been done properly. My understanding was that only a certifier could confirm the car was now standard and do the necessary paperwork. Otherwise anyone could take off a cert plate. That's just my understanding. Best bet would be to call the LVVTA is it? Whoever actually issues the plates, and ask them what their records show.

If it's still live, then I don't see why you can't get another plate printed and put it back with the same parts it was certed with. I guess a call to the certifier will confirm that one though.

Easiest way? Don't go to VTNZ. Any other garage will simply do the warrant check and put the sticker on.

Or Roydvale Testing Station down the bottom of Wairakei Road might be closer. They are open weekends as well.

Good news is I can just get a replacement plate made if I fit the adjustables and set them to the certed height.
turns out the car had quite a bit of equipment on it in its past too  but should be sweet now most of it has been reverted back to standard.

If it was certed for something then you have to put EVERYTHING back in for the cert to plate to be valid, that means wheel sizes, modded engine etc.

Just going off what the lvvta told me, things like bucket seats and spoilers/wings etc that have been taken off the car will just get taken off the system and plate. It was certified for 14 inch wheels but is not classed as a full recheck if I want to change them to the 16's or 17's.
It still has the braided brake lines and sway bars etc that were on the original cert plate so no worry there.

Ignore the desk jockeys in Wellington and ask the guy you actually want to cert those changes what it will cost for him to do it, remember his name on it makes him 100% responsible for the whole vehicle. Will require full road test, brake check etc and a fair bit of time especially since you should be honest with them about the number of changes since it last passed a cert. Probably cost the same as starting fresh.
