Re: The ongoing NZV8/ V8ST/ MNZ stoush.

Could anybody give a quick re-cap of the history of this stoush for those of us who weren't paying attention in class.

Re: Shred Motorsport shutting down.

Previous management?

It's always been the same people running it. But the company called Shred Industries was shut down and a new company created called Shred Motorsports.

I think it's fair to say that STM and Shred aren't really competitors, they operate in different parts of the "scene"

The latest mazda 6's look quite mazda compared to most things.

Pictures really don't do justice to how "snouty" the front end is. Kinda reminds me of a 12a rx3 nose.

Nibbler seems like an easy way to make a mess of it if you aren't careful.

Drill holes around the edge of the bit you want to remove then tidy up with a file, touch up the bare steel with paint and it'll look nice and tidy.
More time consuming, but most things are if you want a nice job.

The key difference is one owner is less keen to sell/more dreamer spec.

Asking prices on trademe often have little relevance to anything (many people are happy to list a car they don't really intend to sell for a silly price on the off chance some idiot might pay it).

Sometimes people see ...

If that is true, it reaffirms to me why I think that P.O.T need to make extinguishers mandatory in all vehicles being entered, and to initiate some kind of basic scrutineering to check for poorly presented vehicles.

1kg extinguishers in vehicles are only really to allow the driver to exit ...

Not really their style. More likely to let Nissan use it for free and still develop something faster.

There have been several recalls over several years. Its an immature technology and will take a while to get the problems sorted.

Immature compared to the internal combustion engine itself perhaps.

Porsche started developing the original twin clutch gearbox in 1981 and had it reliable enough ...

porsche should totally get in there.

i wonder if we'll see road going fezzas with turbos in the next few years?

Went for a wee blat in an is-f today and it got me thinking they should do an "FX-GT86" with that engine.
big(ish) V8 + small sportscar = win.

Also 90k is a hell of a lot of coin for a 2nd hand fancy toyota 8O

With regards to the Ring times I think tyres are an understated issue here as Corvette Nissan ACR Viper Porsche GT2 RS are on alot better quality rubber the the LFA.

For example the GTR used to use that Bridgestone tyre also then swapped to the Dunlop DSST Semi and found more performance.

“There’s a misconception among some people that it’s just a track for Tony Quinn and his mates – that’s not the case,” explains Sentch.

“Basically, it’s a ‘golf country club’ for motorsport, where members will pay fees and have access to an array of fantastic facilities.
