Re: Runx Z value..
Yeah, they tried to trade it in, the caryard estimated around $3k-$4k as a trade in and told them to try sell it privately. They've already replaced it with a Skoda Kodiaq RS (yikes!). I've had some eye-watering quotes for panel and paint.. plus the clutch is a little soft (has done 135kms on ...

Re: Runx Z value..
I really don't know. Any RunX or Allex seems to bottom out around $4k for a half decent one by the looks, I figured a manual high powered one would be roughly equivalent to an older GT Corolla and perhaps worth more than a gutless auto one? I tentatively offered them $5k depending on a thorough ...

Runx Z value..
Hi guys,
Looking at buying a Runx Z off family. It's a 2001 with 135kms, 6spd manual with 2zzge, disc brakes etc. Both bumpers are a little rough, front guard has a dent, but otherwise pretty good for an "old" car. Bog standard. Don't seem to be many manual ones for sale, what would be a fair ...

Re: When do you draw the line with your car? (Daily driver)
Over 6 years with my 2004 RunX as well. Kept the oil clean and she doesn't miss a beat. Every time I think about shouting it some nice alloys or converting to manual I remember that I'm not 20 any more and putting money into a car that will never be collectable, runs perfect and gets me around ...

1KZ not boosting?
My BIL's Surf is having issues with not producing boost, he has had it in to a mechanic who replaced the turbo with a known good one and manifold gaskets with nil fix. I'm yet to see it, but as my sister tells me it makes a loud "whistle" (still runs well otherwise, just gutless) I'm picking ...

Re: 2016 Yaris wheel alignment/steering centred
New bearings are significantly tighter than worn in ones, could well be bearing drag. I'd put a few hundred km on it personally before getting concerned.

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
Interesting video, never would have thought of that! You'd think that it would start and run with throttle applied but not idle if it were the IACV?

Re: Diagnosing head gasket
Sounds like it might have gone between pots. Have you checked the plugs? Other than a compression test there isn't much else to do that doesn't involve cracking it open.
If you're replacing the engine soon anyway I'd just stick with standard purely because I'm a cheaparse haha.

Re: Steering went funny
Hmm, 1AZ? I know those early D4 engines were chronically bad for blocking the EGR valves, perhaps with low idle RPM on top of loading up the powersteering pump in the turn, revs stumbled enough to make the PS and alternator drop out?
Symptoms of a blocked EGR valve include a lumpy idle and power ...

Re: Steering went funny
Odd. My first thought would be something getting flicked up into the belt or an idler seizing enough to jam the belt and make it spin on the crank pulley momentarily. This would cause the power steering pump to stop and the steering to suddenly get heavy (you'd suddenly find the steering requiring ...

Let us know how they go! My mate tried to sell me Hankooks but we found very little in the way of reviews for them.

Fill your boots mate!
Also the Eagle F1 comes in the Directional 5 (cheap) and Asymmetric 3 (not cheap!), the directionals are the ones Ken is talking about. I still rate the RE003s, shame Hyper don't do Bridgestone! I really can't ...

Ah yup. I was there both days.. I still remember you climbing out and raging! Lol. Yeah that AE86 was pretty gutless, whoever was driving it was writing cheques that the chassis couldn't cash, we weren't surprised at all.

Is that the blue s14 that ended up on its lid? I was there that drift day.. I seem to recall a black AE86 rally car that also ended wheels up at the end of the straight? Man that was years ago.

I've heard a lot of good things about the ProVent ones for diesels.. pretty pricey though (around $400 for the whole setup).
