Hey,

Where are the best places to get high current fuses and circuit breakers (12V 150-250Amp+)?

Where do people buy them from (and how cheap)?

Thanks, Allister

I'm interested in getting some new 8:1 pistons too.

Do you mind saying how much the pistons and oil pump were (from Mark?)? Did you get 8:1 or 8.9:1?

Thanks, Al

Yeah sorry, 1.6mm Stainless steel spacer (some stuff I had laying around). If you put in a spacer can you just buy 54mm centre discs and be done? Would a spacer be enough to move you to the 54mm area?

I just figured that the Superstrut knuckle/hub is different in this offset/carrier position so ...

Yes, I had this problem with an all AE101 twinpot setup - installed a 1.6mm SS spacer under the disc to fix.

Wasn't as bad as rubbing but disc was not running in the centre of the pad carrier. Have a mate that had the same problem and installed exactly the same spacer as me.

Both sets of discs ...

Hey, I brought 275mm discs with a 54mm centre for my rally car - I will try to find the toyota part number tonight and post. I think the part number was for a AE101 GTZ (so SS??).

Have you checked for any other differences bewteen the carriers? Same distance between pads?

Hey,

Had a similar problem on a older 4AGZE with Link computer - everything checked out fine but still no fuel coming out. Car had been sitting for quite a while.

I ended up just taking a wire that the Link should be earthing and sparked it on earth - I believe the injectors were stuck and ...

Thanks Mr Revhead,

I noticed Repco and Supercheap are stocking Antifreeze now that has NO anti corrosion additives!!

Should I get Toyota stuff or at least a reputable brand (which?)?

This is for a rebuilt engine and new rad so I don't want crap wrecking it.

Thanks, Al

Bit off topic but anyone got any pics of this extra support?

I used to run Mobil 1 SHC (full synthetic) for 6 years in my AE92 E series box - lasted really well until I ran a long very hot test day at Hampton Downs. Basically cooked the gearbox with heat (dead bearings).

I'm now trying Motul Gear300 in a standard E58 with a temp gauge - at the track with ...

Hey,

Just wondering if this is a 16 Valve 4A motor with the starter motor on the intake side of the gearbox?

I'm putting in a C160 with a Bigport (AE82) and want to try and fit a starter on the intake side. Looks like it fits on your motor?

Thanks, Al

What starter to use? C160 into AE82 with 16V Bluetop

Hey,

I'm putting a C160 6speed LSD with a Blacktop flywheel into an AE82 chassis with a std. 16V Bigport bluetop.

What starter motors are compatible with this setup? I'm keeping TVIS but will run Blacktop extractors.

What's the best (highest power/lowest weight/most reliable) starter that ...

Thanks for all the tips guys!

Unfortunately no press studs from the Bolt shop.

Trailer studs looked promising but thread must be fully formed by 10mm under the head - doesn't look like that'll quite be the case.

Suzuki wheel studs might be be good. Does the thread start at less than 10mm ...

Where to buy Press in Studs

Hey,

Anyone know where I can get press in studs (like, but NOT wheels studs) like the ones used in Strut tops/Camber tops and Lower arm ball joints. They have a flat round head and splines at the base of the stud before the thread starts.

I need some M12x1.25 about 35mm long

Thanks ...

As the gearbox is not at the correct original installation angle the Plug on the side will no longer be the correct FULL height though.

E58 GTZ Actual Gearbox Oil capacity?

Hey guys,

I have fitted a E58 GTZ (Viscous LSD) into my AE82 and it is NOT sitting at the design angle it would be in it's home AE101. This means filling it to the filler bolt level will not be the correct oil amount.

Does anyone have a workshop manual capacity for this gearbox? Or a Japanese ...

I too can confirm this is your issue. I ran a AE82 with a AE92 oil pressure gauge pick up for years - when the oil light goes out with any revs on PANICK. Would flicker at warm idle.

Even better get a decent oil pressure switch that comes on at 15 or 20psi, rather than the factory ones that only ...

Bigport head on Smallport block?

Hey,

Is this possible? Will this give me a Hicomp (10.3:1 or something) Bigport or a pile of trouble??

Will the engine be interferance now? Will it run with a std NZ Bluetop GE ECU (with 96 or 98 octane fuel)? I take it I will need to block the smallport oil drain on the block?

Thanks, Al
