Re: Turbo spin at idle - resistance

I had a issue like this which resulted in a piston seal needing replaced.
There was a tiny bit of rust on the seal and that was enough to have the shaft bind up when at operating oil pressure.

I asked how to avoid this and was told to avoid rust enhancing conditions - moisture free environment. Is ...

Re: Crashed into.. dodgy details given.

Bit late now but after one of our crashes, our panel beater who we get on with pretty well advised asking for their driver's license (proving who they are and whether they are licensed to drive) and photos of the license and them if you can. PPhotos of their Rego and WoF doesn't hurt either!

We ...

Re: New Tow Vehicle Recommendations (Work)

Not 100% sure yet but if it can be justified, should be up around $50k-70k. It's going to be fitted with second alternator so won't want another one in a long time.

New Tow Vehicle Recommendations (Work)

Peoples!

I have been given thee task to find a suitable replacement for my work vehicle.

For the past 10 years I've had Nissan Patrols as that's the fleet i inherited and we'd kept with them. There was a Terrano in the past (Turbo Diesel) but that kept blowing up from overboosting, especially up ...

Re: Home security cameras

Rebooting a thread from back in the days here! Looks like to be on a bi-yearly occurrence

I have been given the task on behalf of my grandparents (75y/o+) to sort out cameras for their farm. There's been some dodgy activity and rumors of undesirables in the area so they're wanting to have a little ...

Re: GPS vehicle tracking

If only for locating vehicles, would old iPhones using 'Find my iPhone'? Hard wire into power and go from there?
Guess there's that LiPo risk though.

Plenty of tracking apps on store.

Re: Wellington Based Members - Checkup of my Blacktop

What a good idea!

Are you looking for a specific problem? If not then it shouldn't matter who you spend time with looking over engines.

Seeing other engines and understanding different components not specific to the 4AGE would/could broaden knowledge even more.

Look up Eric the Car Guy on ...

Re: V Band Clamps (Clamp Only)

Try some of the engineering supplies places around your way, Norma clamps should be readily available

Yeah, EDL Fasteners stock the Norma range of hose clips - didn't think they would have v-band ones.
If they don't, and don't know who should, it will be a trip to Redline Performance. Get to try ...

V Band Clamps (Clamp Only)

I made the mistake and got cheap V-Band clamps from DSRTurbo a year or two ago.
When i go my exhaust made up i had a higher quality unit put on because one brand new unit had failed before the job had finished!

The replacement clamp is very nice but because i have 3 joins, I need two more clamps ...

Re: Removing Rust from Cooling System (Block)

Thanks for suggestons, MAC_HATER and stolic.

I used the water blaster without the thermostat and really only flushed the remaining coolant in the engine. Doing this in the heater core looks to have done a good job and rusty water came out.

I have read on some other forums that CLR (Calcium, Lime ...

In preparation of a new radiator, I have done several flushes and have managed to get the water running clear after engine running for about 20 mins.

Now i have the engine out ready for clutch and should try sort out even more if that's possible.

Re: Orange Canister next to fuel filter AE101

So how does this work?
Does it terminate at the canister or plumb elsewhere?

I wouldn't mind changing my setup to something newer and more compact.

Thanks!.
